The work is broken into two categories as follows and as described below:
Road resurfacing of existing seals or surfacing of new pavements using a thin overlay
• Road rehabilitation of existing sealed roads

Resurfacing & New Surfacing
This work generally involves the manufacture, delivery, laying and compaction of a 25mm minimum compacted thickness RCC Type 2 (10mm) asphalt overlay to sections of existing sealed roads and a primer seal and asphalt overlay to a minimal amount of new pavements. The reinstatement of existing linemarking and pavement markers, the raising of service covers to suit the new level and the installation of standard fire hydrant and valve markings on the new surface are also included.

Road Rehabilitation
This work generally involves the profiling and disposal of existing sealed road pavement materials and replacement with a suitable structural asphalt layer before application of a thin overlay wearing course.

For the information of the tenderers, the total anticipated annual quantity of asphalt to be placed is as follows:
• 2007/08 4,500 – 5,500 tonne
• 2008/09 6,000 – 7,000 tonne
• 2009/10 6,000 – 7,000 tonne
