Bundaberg Regional Council (the Principal or the Client) has procured ‘For Approval’ drawings from GHD (the Consultant) for the redevelopment of the former Bundaberg City Showgrounds, located at 45 Burrum Street, Bundaberg West, Queensland 4670. The redevelopment has been progressed in two distinct but integrally linked packages:
a)Sub-division (Package A): roadways, intersections, ground treatment for car parking and services infrastructure.
b)Building (Package B): ‘Bundaberg Multiplex’ recreational and indoor sports building, car park, loading bays, landscape and storage shed to be serviced by the sub-division roadways, intersections and services infrastructure.
These two packages have been designed in parallel to ensure connectivity and minimise points of conflict, however due to timeframes and funding they will be constructed through two separate contracts and tenders. This tender is for Package A only. Actual construction will commence on the sub-division ahead of the building works, and an overlap of both construction programs on the site will occur.
The land parcels consist of a mixture of reserves and freehold allotments of which Council is the trustee and owner respectively. Statutory processes completed include Development Approval however Operational Works is being progressed parallel to the tender period. Activities to decommission and / or demolish some infrastructure and buildings have been completed and the successful contractor will inherit the site as is.
