McKinlay Shire Council has identified that the construction of a Tourist Interpretive Centre servicing the Julia Creek township and surrounding areas would provide additional economic, social and culture benefits to the region.
Using a two phase process, in Phase 1, the successful Tenderer will be required to finalise concept and detailed designs, then document these in a project implementation plan. Should the project proceed to Phase 2, the successful Tenderer will be required to complete such activities as:
- relocate and refurbish two existing buildings donated to Council
- complete site preparation, and construction and civil works
- complete site landscaping, amenities and beautification activities
- commission constructed installations and other internal and external displays and exhibits (budget permitting).
In addition to Council funds, funding for the project has also been secured from a range of government and non-government sources. With these arrangements in place, there is a upper project budget limit of $940,000 plus GST.
