The Douglas Shire Council is responsible for the provision of a ferry service for the transport of vehicles and people across the Daintree River at Cape Tribulation Road, Lower Daintree, Queensland.
The ferry is situated some 50 kilometres north of Port Douglas, and gives access to the northern section of the Daintree National Park and to Cape Tribulation and north. The ferry provides the only sealed road access to this area.
Council is seeking Tenders with innovative solutions to reduce / minimise river crossing delays during the peak tourist season. Council is seeking examples of innovative solutions from the market to help manage traffic delays.
Council propose to pass all activities to the new ferry operator.
